Pug

We are a multi-generation pug family, which means all of us are a little crazy about all things pug. Theodore Seuss Geisel award winner, has penned another funny book for the earliest readers, Pug.

It is snowing, Pug sees Peg, Pug wants to go out to see Peg. Mom is wrapped up in a blanket reading, Dad just got finished shoveling but Tad is sleeping. Pug makes it clear he wants to go outside, after a little blackmail, Tad agrees to take him for a walk. Where is Peg? All ends well as Tad and Pug and Meg and her pug go for a walk in the snow.

The words are simple, the humor is in the artwork. The publication date for this book is July 30, 2016, so I have no library information at this time. Here is the link to Ethan Long's other early readers at the Sonoma County Library.

In! Over! And On (The Farm)

Ethan Long, the 2013 Theodor Seuss Geisel  award winner for Up, Tall and High, has a new book aimed at beginning readers: In! Over! And On (The Farm). Using fewer than fifty words, Mr. Long tells three humorous stories illustrating the words in, over and on.

Since this book was recently published, the Sonoma County Library does not yet have the book. But the author has published many other books aimed at Kindergarten, first and second-graders. You can find them here

Up, Tall and High

Up, Tall and High written and illustrated by Ethan Long is the 2013 recipient of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for the best beginning reader.

Up, Tall and High Three short stories are told about the meanings of the words tall, high and up. They  are  acted out by a colorful group of birds. Using less than 30 different words, the text combines with the pictures to tell the humorous stories with fun fold-outs. The reading level is kindergarten to early first grade but this would be a great book to read to preschoolers and even babies.

The Sonoma County Library has many copies.
